So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught a significant number of people. But the message they heard did them no good, since they did not join in with those who heard it in faith.<br>4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, \u201cAs I swore in my anger, \u2018They will never enter my rest!\u2019\u201d And yet God\u2019s works were accomplished from the foundation of the world. <br>4:4 For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: \u201cAnd God rested on the seventh day from all his works,\u201d <br>4:5 but to repeat the text cited earlier: \u201cThey will never enter my rest!\u201d <br>4:6 Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience.<br>-<br>Hebrews 4:9-11 (NET)<br>4:9 Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.<br>4:10 For the one who enters God\u2019s rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from his own works.<br>4:11 Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.<br>-<br>The first organized church, besides that of<br>Jerusalem, which is mentioned in the Acts of<br>the apostles is the church in the city of Antioch<br>in Syria. It was here that the disciples were<br>first called Christians, and here Paul and<br>Barnabas were ordained \" to the work wherunto<br>God had called them.\" Antioch was the<br>starting point of the three great missionary<br>journeys of Paul. On the first of these journeys<br>( A. D. 45-50 ) the apostle was accompanied by<br>Barnabas and Mark.
