Child of God.
John 1:12;

To be a Child of God is a profound concept in Christianity, with deep theological and personal implications. It is the belief that through faith in Jesus Christ and the grace of God, one is adopted into the family of God, becoming a son or daughter of the Almighty. Here's a key verse from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible that speaks to this:
John 1:12 - "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
To me, being a Child of God means several things:
1. **Identity**: It means that my true and ultimate identity is not defined by my earthly parents, nationality, race, or social status, but by my relationship with God. I am a member of His eternal family, created in His image and loved infinitely by Him.
2. **Inheritance**: As a Child of God, I am an heir to the promises and blessings that He has provided through Jesus Christ. This includes the promise of eternal life and the assurance of His presence and guidance in this life.
3. **Unconditional Love**: It means that God's love for me is unconditional, just as a parent's love for their child is not based on performance or merit. No matter what I do or fail to do, God's love for me remains steadfast and unchanging.
4. **Access to God**: Being a Child of God grants me direct access to God through prayer and the Holy Spirit. I can communicate with Him anytime, anywhere, and find comfort, guidance, and strength in my relationship with Him.
5. **Adoption and Belonging**: The concept of adoption signifies that I am chosen, accepted, and welcomed into God's family. This brings a sense of belonging and security, knowing that I have a heavenly Father who will never abandon or forsake me.
6. **Transformation**: As a Child of God, I am called to grow in likeness to Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a lifelong process of sanctification, where God works in me to develop His character and will.
7. **Responsibility**: With the privileges of being a Child of God come responsibilities to live a life that reflects His nature, to obey His commandments, and to share the good news of His love and salvation with others.
8. **Purpose**: Knowing that I am a Child of God gives my life meaning and purpose. I am here to bring glory to God and to participate in His divine plan for the world.
9. **Hope and Assurance**: Being a Child of God provides hope in the face of life's challenges and trials. I am assured that God is working all things for my good and that nothing can separate me from His love.
10. **Eternal Security**: As a Child of God, I am secure in the knowledge that I have eternal life through Jesus Christ. No matter what happens in this world, my destiny is with God in heaven.
This verse from John emphasizes the importance of receiving Jesus and believing in His name as the pathway to becoming a Child of God. It is a personal decision that involves accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, and trusting in His sacrifice on the cross to atone for my sins. This relationship is not just a one-time event but a continuous journey of faith, growth, and transformation.
